Full-Time or Part-Time Research Support Officer I or II - Project MT-COASTAL

Applications are invited for a Research Support Officer to work on the MT-COASTAL research project financed by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Structural Reform (DG-REFORM), and implemented by the Coastal and Marine Union (EUCC) in collaboration with the University of Malta. The project was requested by the Public Works Department, on behalf of the Maltese Ministry for Transport Infrastructure & Capital Projects (MTIP), and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) through the EU’s Technical Support Instrument (TSI). The project seeks to:

(i) assess and prioritise coastal erosion risks and identify suitably, and effective protective solutions – the task is to take into account the impacts of climate change, the integrated management of water, and land-sea interaction;

(ii) develop a national integrative instrument – the task is to identify the full range of policy priorities in order to reduce coastal pressures, while protecting and preserving the shoreline, both rocky and sandy beaches mostly exposed to coastal erosion dynamics; and

(iii) promote national harmonisation among the various key stakeholders – to implement coastal protection solutions and establish a holistic strategic framework at the national level.
