SINO MALTA FUND 2021 Joint Call for R&I Proposals

The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China have launched the SINO MALTA Fund 2021 Joint Call for R&I Project Proposals. The SINO MALTA Fund supports research, development, and innovation projects in the following thematic areas:

  • Thematic Area 1: Digital Technologies
  • Thematic Area 2: Health Innovations
  • Thematic Area 3: Green Transitions

Malta-based entities and China-based entities are invited to apply for funding to undertake a R&I project in these thematic areas. Malta-based entities will submit their application to MCST whilst China-based entities will submit their application to MOST.

Eligible undertakings (State Aid) as well as Public entities and Public Research & Knowledge Dissemination organisations that do not carry out an economic activity within the meaning of Article 107 TFEU (Non-State Aid) can request up to EUR 200,000 per project proposal and will need to adhere to the National Rules for Participation. The total allocated budget for Malta-based entities is €600,000.

This Call follows a two-stage submission process. Submissions to Stage 1 - Pre-Proposal are to be received by Monday, 24th May 2021 (23:59 CET).  Eligible applications will then be invited to proceed to Stage 2, when a full proposal will be requested.
