During a press conference held on 1st July 2024, the Hon Clifton Grima, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation and the Hon Keith Azzopardi Tanti, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, publicly launched Xjenza Malta (Science Malta). By virtue of Legal Notice 112 of 2024, Xjenza Malta (Science Malta) has acquired the status of a Government Agency of Malta which will be committed to develop the national strategies of Research and Innovation, as well as Space, whilst providing for their implementation and funding. By means of this new identity, Xjenza Malta (Science Malta) is reaffirming the commitment of its predecessor, the Malta Council for Science and Technology, to invest in the future by showcasing the transformative impact that policy and funding support has on beneficiaries, academic institutions, private firms, and government entities. This new identity will reflect our ongoing dedication to support researchers in all areas of scientific inquiry, while continuing to fund project-based research, and driving innovation through the promotion of collaborative, multidisciplinary efforts.
