Job Vacancy: Communications Officer with JPI Oceans


The JPI Oceans secretariat is looking for a science Communications Officer in support of all our communication-related tasks and activities, with a focus on the OKEANO project.

The Joint Programming Initiative Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans (JPI Oceans) is a pan-European platform that strives to increase efficiency and impact of national investments in marine and maritime research and innovation. JPI Oceans operates at the interface of science and policy and focuses on long-term collaboration between EU Member States, Associated Countries and international partners. Our work adds to the value of national research and innovation investments by aligning national priorities, addressing them with Joint Actions and amplifying impact through strategic engagements.

JPI Oceans runs a diverse portfolio of currently 15 thematic Joint Actions and engages strategically in several European and international activities. This includes several major initiatives of the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. As part of this portfolio JPI Oceans will coordinate the communication and outreach activities of the newly funded OKEANO project that will support the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance and Declaration. The OKEANO project is a collaboration among 16 organisations in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Cabo Verde, France, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Norway, Portugal, South Africa and Spain. It will provide coordination and support for a wider understanding of the opportunities and needs for sustainable management of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, JPI Oceans is leading the communication, outreach and ocean literacy components in a Horizon Europe partnership for a sustainable blue economy.
