The SD-WISHEES project aims to enable strategic coordination and cross-sector collaboration between national (R&I) funding members, researchers, innovators and a wide variety of stakeholders to address together the protection of cultural heritage in Europe and beyond in response to more and more frequent and severe hydroclimatic extreme events such as droughts and floods. The vision of SD-WISHEES is to enhance collaboration and reach for research and innovation to tackle impacts of hydroclimatic extremes on cultural heritage.

Our mission is to develop innovative tools and strategies to enable collaboration between diverse stakeholders in Europe and beyond to inclusively address sustainable management of cultural heritage threatened by hydroclimatic extreme events, referred as “water(hydro)-climate-cultural heritage nexus” (the WCCH Nexus).

SD-WISHEES receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON), HORIZON Coordination and Support Actions, call HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ERA-01, under Grant Agreement No. 101095322.

Purpose of the survey

We would like to understand the hurdles and barriers that prevent some stakeholders from participating in transnational cooperation for R&I programmes in the WCCH Nexus. In the next stage, we plan to engage further with stakeholders to identify the best practices & challenges in R&I cooperation on SD-WISHEES topics, in Europe and beyond.

This assessment of barriers, enablers, and good practices aims at:

  • Enhancing cooperation over the WCCH Nexus;
  • Contributing to the widening and alignment strategy (in EU and beyond);
  • Enhancing the impacts of the R&I investments;
  • Supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
