The ERA Talents action aims to boost interoperability of careers and employability of research and innovation talents across sectors, with a centre of gravity in widening countries. Projects are expected to contribute to several of the following outcomes:
Scope:
Cross-sectoral talent circulation and academia-business collaboration for knowledge transfer is requiring systematising and structuring efforts. Through ERA4You, as one of the ERA Policy Actions[1], the European Commission aims to support and incentivise such transformations, towards a more balanced circulation of talents, both trans-nationally and across sectors. Within this scope, ERA Talents aims to support training and mobility of researchers, innovators, and other research and innovation talents across sectors with a particular focus on widening countries. The grant covers expenses related to the ERA Talents participating organisations and individual talents hosted/seconded (administrative costs, training costs, travel and subsistence costs and salaries for seconded staff, and costs associated with dissemination & communication and transfer of knowledge).

The LIFE programme – the EU’s funding instrument for the Environment and Climate Action has been launched on 21 May 2022. The LIFE programme 2021-2027 is currently divided into four sub-programmes as follows:
Nature and Biodiversity:
The Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme will aim at the protection and restoration of Europe’s nature and halting and reversing biodiversity loss. Thus, the LIFE Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme will continue to fund nature conservation projects, particularly in the areas of biodiversity, habitats and species. It will support projects that contribute to the implementation of the EU Birds and Habitats Directives, and in particular; the development and management of the Natura 2000 network and the IAS Regulation and will support achieving the objectives of the EU’s biodiversity strategy for 2030; part of the EU Green Deal.
Circular Economy and Quality of Life:
The Circular Economy and Quality of Life sub-programme aims at facilitating the transition toward a sustainable, circular, toxic-free, energy-efficient and climate-resilient economy and at protecting, restoring and improving the quality of the environment, either through direct interventions or by supporting the integration of those objectives in other policies.
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation:
The Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation sub-programme will contribute to the shift towards a sustainable, energy-efficient, renewable energy-based, climate-neutral and resilient economy, thereby contributing to sustainable development.
Co-finances projects in the areas of farming, land use, peatland management, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
Co-finances projects in the areas of urban adaptation and land-use planning, resilience of infrastructure, sustainable management of water in drought-prone areas, flood and coastal management, resilience of the agricultural, forestry and tourism sectors, and/or support to the EU's outermost regions: preparedness for extreme weather events, notably in coastal areas.
Clean Energy Transition:
The LIFE Clean Energy Transition sub-programme continues to support the delivery of EU policies in the field of sustainable energy, in particular; the EU Green Deal, the Energy Union (2030 energy and climate targets) and the European Union’s 2050 long-term decarbonisation strategy.

The Energy and Water Agency will once again run it Research and Innovation in Energy and Water Grant Scheme. This will be the third call and the aim still remains, to address National Policies and address sectoral problems. This year, the scheme will be taking projects in specific focus areas.
The call will be open for applications as from the 6th of June and close on the 2nd of September and the scheme has undergone some structural changes.
The scheme is also looking to produce more tangible results by changing the TRL level requirement by requiring any project that will benefit of the scheme to reach TRL level 7 and also produce a prototype or model in a suitable environment. This change in structure was erected as it will help demonstrate better what R&I is capable of and why R&I is a necessary tool to achieve sustainability.
Another notable change is that the budget of the scheme has increased from €120,000 to €200,000. Applicants this year must also apply as a consortium.

The goal of NGI Assure is to support projects that design and engineer reusable building blocks for the Next Generation Internet as part of a complete, strong chain of assurances for all stakeholders regarding the source and integrity of identities, identifiers, data, cyber-physical systems, service components and processes. Furthermore, contributions can be made to address underlying real-world challenges in deploying and validating such building blocks, such as energy efficiency and sustainability, scalability and throughput, security, privacy/confidentiality, plausible deniability, robustness and crypto-agility, side-channel resistance, interoperability, governance and compliance to regulatory frameworks – where needed to turn the above into reproducible and trustworthy end-to-end solutions that can withstand the hostile battle grounds of the modern internet.
We are looking for projects that have research and development as primary objective and that commit to generate open knowledge and open source building blocks relevant to developers, operators and users across all kinds of public and private application domains that have standardization potential.
Anyone that can bring a relevant contribution to the topics of NGI Assure can apply, whether you are a natural person or an organisation of any type that wants to improve and further develop Distributed Ledger Technologies, advanced blockchain technologies and related enabling technologies.

The project will provide EUR 3.3 M of direct financial support via two Open Calls. The ultimate goal of these calls for financial support is to fund and encourage the validation of the new cross-sectoral and cross-regional digital manufacturing value chains, delivering innovative goods, services and processes in new sectors. The calls will be adapted to two maturity levels: TRL 5-7 and TRL 8-9, understanding that the needs of the technologies and business have different needs depending on their TRL. The main objective of the call is to raise the efficiency and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry by adopting the latest digital technologies for a smarter and greener transformation aligned with the latest EU policies. The present call funds the development, testing, validation and market uptake of INDUSTRY 4.0 solutions by increasing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL)/maturity of the proposed solutions in delivering innovative goods, services and processes. Last April 27, was the open call launch event, you can see the presentation here. Visit the below link to read further.
